Outgoing captain of cricket, Bruce Kerr bowling in his last game for WBHS.

Westville Boys’ High School hosted Northwood School in a summer sports fixture on Saturday 15 November in their last fixture of the year.

The Westville 1st Basketball Team has been in good form having beaten Glenwood, Michaelhouse and Kearsney leading into the game. Kearsney was a good win for Westville and this left the team in good spirits leading into the Northwood fixture. It was great to see all the senior players on the court in the middle of their matric exams playing their last game for Westville. Westville were always in control of the result and eventually went on to win 86-51 finishing off an excellent season. Congratulations to head coach Byron Tucker in his first year in charge. The

The Water Polo teams had a great day in the pool winning 3 out of the 4 matches played. The 1st team won 11-8 and finished their season off on a high note. The Northwood u15a team was the pick of the teams for the hosts and they managed to pull off a great away result winning 5-3. The u15a teams did meet twice earlier in the year where Westville won both times.

It was great to get another full day of cricket on Saturday with all the rain and wind around Durban. The Northwood 1st XI won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a flat track. Northwood went about their batting slowly only managing to score 136 all out with Van Breemen getting 51 runs. The Westville spinners did very well to keep the total down with Alex Whitelaw taking 4 wickets for 25 runs. Westville went over line with 5 wickets in hand with Tyron Koen scoring 45 and Bruce Kerr scoring 35.  In other results the 2nd, 16a and 15a all won their matches vs Northwood with the highlights being Wassem Rahman scoring 118 not out for the u16as and the u15as beating an undefeated Northwood team.  Westville U14a batter Hayden Rousouw put up a good fight scoring 97 runs but his efforts did not help as the Northwood u14a team won by 32 runs in the end. All in all it was excellent set of results for Westville winning 10 out of the 11 matches played.

Thank you to Northwood for making the trip to Westville and giving us a great set of fixtures. Well done to all the staff and boys for finishing for all their efforts on the day.
