David Weber

David Weber has been named as winner of the Grade 10 Best Speaker Competition. In his excellent presentation he addressed the ad hoc approach and negative attitude to the world around us and made a plea for individuals to change their self-centred attitudes to ensure a better future for all.

The competition is an initiative of the KZN Speech & Drama College. The finalists were pupils from Crawford College, St Henry’s, Richards Bay High, Scottburgh High, Westville Boys’ High, Westville Girls’ High and Glenwood.

The speeches covered a diverse range of current problematic issues such as gun control, sex slavery and human trafficking, the existence of God, the ecosystem and the Woozle effect. The participants enthralled the audience with their excellent presentations and their astute insight into the complexity of some of these topics.

David’s well-deserved success follows in winning this competition, follows the acclaimed presentation done by him and his Grade 10 team at the Student Conference of the World Leading Schools Association in Shanghai in July this year.
