Rugby and Hockey fixtures against Glenwood are always eagerly anticipated events. The overall results for the weekend (11 & 23 April) were:

The WBHS Hockey teams continue to impress with their style of Hockey, being undefeated on the day. The 1st team had to contend with a strong and skilful Glenwood team. Glenwood opened the scoring; Westville responded with 2 goals through a penalty by Joshua Korte and a goal from open play by Caleb Carney. Glenwood remained persistent and were rewarded with an equalising goal late in the second half.
The Glenwood Rugby teams generally lived up to their formidable reputations, posting comfortable victories in the 1st, U16A and U15A games. The WBHS U14A bucked the trend, running in 5 tries in their convincing 34-7 victory. Credit must go to U14A coaches, Myles Usher and Wian du Plessis for their success in merging their players into a formidable unit, and to the players themselves for their creativity on attack and courage in defence.
A pleasing statistic was that the Under 16 age-group won 3 of their 4 games; while the Under 14A age-group won or drew 5 of their 6 games.
It was a hard day at the office for the 1st Rugby team. The score most probably doesn’t reflect the true character and passion shown by our boys. The first team really played with heart and put Glenwood under pressure. Unfortunately the pressure was not turned into points. WBHS attacked very well but the Glenwood strength in defence the physical presence of some of the Glenwood boys were very evident. Glenwood capitalized on turn-over balls and turned it into points. Positives were the commitment of the players, the quality of Westville’s line-outs, and the generally attacking style of play. Negatives were the struggle in the scrums, a couple of soft tries conceded, and a few injuries during the game. Tries where scored by Jordan Phipson and Gustav du Randt. One conversion by Dylan Labuschagne.
