WBHS always values its fixtures against Jeppe. This time, it was Jeppe’s Rugby, Tennis, Squash and Chess teams turn to travel from Johannesburg. On the day, Jeppe took the honours in Hockey, with WBHS taking the honours in n the other sports.

The WBHS 1st Rugby team played their first home fixture of the season in front of the newly-renovated Bowdens Pavilion. The match started very well with a much motivated WBHS team taking the field. From the first whistle they played with great intensity and focus. The set pieces was good and the interlinking between forwards and backs spreading the ball led to 5 well-worked tries. Being the tough side that they are, Jeppe changed their tactics from the start of the second half, using short passes to retain possession. On attack, Jeppe looked dangerous, and the Westville boys battled to maintain momentum. Jeppe crawled back into the game to within five points of Westville (29-24). Late in the second half, the WBHS team settled down and started to dominate the game again. With ten minutes to go, a late try by the Westville boys put the result beyond doubt. Try scorers for Westville were Brogan Boulle, Dylan Coombe and Sheldon Veldsman, with two tries from Dian Smith with 2 tries. Dylan Labuschagne converted 4 tries and a penalty. The 2nd Rugby team were also most impressive, with a 52-0 win.
The 1st Hockey fixture was very evenly balanced, and looked destined for a 0-0 draw. However, a late goal from Jeppe sealed it in their favour 1-0.
