The Westville Boys High School 1st Hockey team travelled to Grahamstown from 1-4 May to participate in the annual Kingswood College Hockey Festival. The team has had a very successful start to the season and were looking forward to playing 6 matches against some of the top schools in the Eastern Cape. The team had also done very well at the St Sthithians Hockey Festival during the Easter Weekend winning 4 out of the 5 matches played, so their confidence was up and they were looking forward to some good results.
Captain Jacques Bleeker was back to full fitness after illness and his absence had been felt by the team, so his return boosted the confidence of the rest of the players Jacques had an immediate impact at centre back and was in total control of every match. Brandon Watkins also added great value at centre midfield, controlling and bossing every team in that area on the field. Westville certainly made their mark in the Eastern Cape winning 6 out of 6 matches at the festival.
