The 1st XI put in a number of fine performances at the National T20 Cricket Finals in Stellenbosch winning 3 of the 4 games played against the top school sides from each South African franchise. In fact,  no team ended the event undefeated and it was only the opening loss to Rondebosch that counted against the Westville boys.

The Westville boys won a nail-biter against highly fancied Waterkloof who were representing the Titans. The scores were tied after 20 overs as well as the super overs and it was a count out on sixes by 6 to 3 which gave Westville victory.

The Westville team then comfortably beat Framesby, who were representing the Warriors. Framesby were the surprise package of the finals coming through a strong Eastern Cape section over Grey High and St Andrews Grahamstown and then beating highly rated St Stithians Jhb of the Lions franchise.

The final game was against St Andrews representing the Free State Knights franchise. St Andrews had overcome Grey College in their provincial section so this game was going to be tough. The Westville boys won the match in fine style but were unable to get the bonus point that would have seen them through to the grand finale.

The event was won by Rondebosch who beat Waterkloof in the final game of the event.

The collective effort of the Westville team was a feature of the T20 season. The team had come through a challenging KZN section which had featured schools such as Maritzburg College, DHS, Hilton, Michaelhouse, St. Charles and Glenwood. The team effort was also evident in the finals at Stellenbosch.

Congratulations to Louis Snyman who was Man of the Match against St Andrews and Bruce Kerr who was Man of the Match against Waterkloof.
