We were privileged to welcome Dr Adrian Tiplady, old boy of 1996, to WBHS last week as Guest of Honour at the All-Round Excellence (ARE) awards. He also used the opportunity to do a special presentation to certain Grade 11 classes. At the ARE event, he delivered a most entertaining speech, which was relevant to all our boys.
Dr Tiplady received an Old Boys Pro Meritis award in honour of his contribution to the national and international community, and his reputation as a world leader in his field. He is responsible for key scientific, technical and strategic analysis, advice and implementation for hosting of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) in South Africa. He was responsible for preparation of South Africa’s bid to host the SKA, and works with government and non-government entities to ensure technical, regulatory and administrative readiness.
