On Saturday, 11 May, Westville played Kearsney at the Westville Astro.  After heavy rains in the morning,  it was great to see that 9 fixtures were played.  Westville were on a high after their great wins against KES , Affies,  Pretoria Boys and DHS in the preceding weekends.

The game was very open from the start with both teams creating chances. Westville’s first short corner saw Nick Finn force the Kearsney keeper, Dylan Middleton to make a save and Javed Mea scored off the rebound. The score remained 1-0 at half time.

The pace of the game improved in the 2nd half, with the battle in the midfield hotting up. Kearsney’s Ryan Wallace made some telling runs and distributed the ball well. Kearsney put away a scrappy goal to level the scores. With both teams looking to take the lead, Westville’s Alex Whitelaw scored to put the game back into the home team’s advantage. The last 10 minutes had both teams giving it their all. The final score gave Westville a well deserved victory.
