The Westville Boys’ High School u15a cricket team returned home from a very successful showing at the Kia Queens College Boys’ High School u15 Cricket Festival. The festival included some of the top traditional cricket playing schools from around the country. After winning all four of their matches, Westville were awarded “The Best All Round” team of the festival.
Westville overcame Selborne College and Grey College Bloemfontein in two 45 over matches on days 1 and 3 respectively. Day 2 saw a comfortable win for Westville versus the hosts in a low scoring declaration match. On Day 4 Westville met Selborne again in a T20 and came out as resounding winners. At the end of the festival Westville came out as the Best All Round team which involves being the best school both on and off the field. This was a humbling award for the boys after a long and successful week.
Day 1 – 45 ovrs: Westville 186 for 6 (Scott 84 n/o) , Selborne 131 all out (Westville won by 55 runs)
Day 2 – Declaration: Queens College 70 all out (De Mezires 4/19), Westville 70 for 5 (Westville won by 5 wickets)
Day 3 – 45 ovrs: Westville 180 for 8 (Maistry 43, Mgobozi 35), Grey College 161 all out (Westville won by 19 runs)
Day 4 – T20: Westville 156 for 7 (Scott 64, Maistry 31) Selborne 76 all out (Westville won by 80 runs)
