After some eye-catching displays at the National Indoor Hockey Tournament in Durban earlier this year, Bongamusa Mngoma was selected for the SA Men’s Indoor Hockey Squad following his selection to the KZN Men’s Mynahs (‘B’) team.

“He has worked hard in the last couple years to get his indoor hockey game to where it is now, and has come a long way considering his first taste of indoor hockey was in grade 8. He showed plenty of potential in his early years at Westville and worked hard at the technical side of his game, which differs from Outdoor hockey. In 2019, he had a breakout year, making the PSI Panthers U16A Indoor team, where his team finished 3rd and he was selected for the PSI African All Stars U16 team,” said Director of Hockey at WBHS, Cameron Mackay.

“Bonga has become an influential figure at Westville amongst the younger Hockey boys, who look to him for guidance. He has shown the immense potential he has and we cannot wait to see him continue to flourish on the indoor court as well as on the astro”.

Bonga was awared a Merit Tie this week for his selection to a SA Representative side.
