WBHS is pleased to host two students from Ryan Cauwensberg and Zach Gapusan from the Lovett School, Atlanta USA for three weeks. Their hosts, Keagan MacCallum and Barnard Nortje, will visit Lovett in November 2019. This exchange is a highlight on the WBHS calendar. It arises out of the initiatives of the World Leading Schools Association (WLSA), a body which organises international collaborative programmes for principals, teachers and students on a variety of educational issues affecting leading schools from eastern and western countries. Both Lovett and WBHS are honoured to have been admitted as formal members of WLSA. Apart from participating in the normal classes and school routines at WBHS, the Lovett boys aim to gain an appreciation of life and topical issues in South Africa. They have already participated in sports practices at the School despite the fact that activities such as Rugby and field Hockey are foreign to them. Zach is a good actor and ice-hockey player who is taking an interest in the astro Hockey practices and matches this term. Ryan’s interests are swimming and soccer, and although he has participated positively in 1st team Rugby practices with his host, Barnard, he apparently has no expectations of being selected. They are also looking forward to their visit to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, which will incorporate the St Lucia wetlands and the cheetah rehabilitation centre.
