The WBHS Campus has been transformed forever with the completion of the new pool. Our thanks go to Pool World for their meticulous work and to Steve of Airserv for his great aerial pictures of the site. Work has commenced on the surrounds: paving, fencing, electrics, flood-lights and the mini-stands between the two pools. Thereafter the expensive process of equipping the pool will start. At this stage, there are no plans to erect permanent stands around the full perimeter of the pool, as this will depend on securing further funding.
Other priorities for campus development this year include upgrading of laboratories, revamp of the School admin foyer and Phase 2 of the Performing Arts project, the construction of a Drama teaching venue.
FUND-RAISING FOR CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT & SPORT
Old Boys, Sponsors and Parents of Swimming and Water-Polo players are also urged to support the School through donations to the Trust to upgrade equipment such as starter-blocks, lane ropes, heaters, pool blankets and water-polo goals.
The School is currently marketing the WBHS Gold Membership option at R3 000. The Gold Membership operates as follows: A once-off donation of R3 000 (or more) channelled through the Educational Trust. The donor may stipulate the area to which the donation is to be applied. This donation is tax-deductible in accordance with Section 18 of the Income Tax Act and a tax certificate is issued at the end of February. The closing date for the R3 000 donation is Wednesday 31 October 2012 and a function to unveil the Alumni Honours Board will take place on Monday 12 November 2012. An inscription is placed on the Gold Membership Board in the Griffin Room. The description may be decided by the donor e.g. ALAN ADAMS / ALAN & ANDRE ADAMS / ADAMS FAMILY / ADAMS FURNISHERS.
