Westville U15 Water polo team had a fantastic weekend in the pool. The boys kicked off the KZN water polo tournament with a convincing win over Michaelhouse beating them 15- 1. They continued to dominate their pool beating DHS 14- 0, Hilton 6-1 and Maritzburg College 12-1 ending up top of their pool and qualifying for the semi-final.
In the semi final, Westville brushed aside Kearsney 10-5 to set up a meeting with a very strong Clifton team in the final.
Westville fired from the start against Clifton and were soon 2 goals up after some very dominant attack play.
In the 2nd quarter the game was a lot tighter with 1 goal a piece and Westville leading 4-2 going into the half time break.
In the second half of the game Westville boys defence was brilliant, not allowing the more dominant Clifton team any chances upfront and making the most of the chances they had, scoring late in the 3rd quarter to be 5-2 up going into the last quarter.
In the final quarter Westville slowed the game down and forced Clifton into a few errors and with no goals being scored by either team, Westville secured Gold with a 5-2 victory.
