Westville’s 1st teams hit a spectacular patch this last week defeating their opponents in every sport that they competed in.  The Westville lads defeated DHS at Squash and Soft Ball, Northwood at Indoor Hockey, Hilton at Water polo and Kearsney at Soccer.

Soccer

Westville 1st Soccer team continued their good form and recorded another win against a good Kearsney side winning a tight game 1-0. The U16A won 2-1, U15A drew 1-1 and the U14A won 2-0. In total, 29 Soccer games were played, with Westville winning 15 games and drawing 5. The full set of results are available on the website.

Westville’s 1st Squash team played DHS at DHS. The WBHS team in rank order was:

  2. Rhys Ramdas
  3. Anthony Montgomery
  4. Jeremy Nelson

Westville started with numbers 2 and 4. Rhys and Jeremy both beat their opponents 11-0, 11-0, 11-0, giving WBHS 66-0 in points and 2-0 in games.  Next up was numbers 1 and 3. Luke beat his opponent 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 and Anthony beat his opponent 11-0, 11-0 and 11-1, resulting in a final score of 132-1 in points and 4-0 in games. Westville have had an outstanding season to date and should continue with their winning ways.

Softball

Westville boys also took part in Softball fixtures at QueensMead against various schools. The 1st team played a double header. The first game was against DHS 1st side which Westville won convincingly 13-0. The second game was against Northwood and this was won 7-2. Dale Freemantle was in great form pitching so well that only 1 DHS batsmen made it to 1st base. The Westville infield was in top form with double plays being played as well as great infield catches and throws being made. Westville’s team are showing great form early in the season which is pleasing as this bodes well for a very successful season.

Defending champions, Westville 1st Indoor Hockey team continued their good form with a convincing 7-1 victory against rivals Northwood to rack up their third consecutive victory.

WAter polo

The 1st Water polo team recorded a good win on Saturday in the Winter League, winning 10-1 against Hilton College.

To top it all, WBHS’s 1st Rugby 7’s team won the SKONK RUGBY 7s TOURNAMENT at Pietermaritzburg College where they downed favourites Michaelhouse.
