Westville extended their winning streak this last weekend with  a good win in  a tough game  against visitors, Jeppe High.

Jeppe started the game with good possession .  Several excellent build ups created  a number of chances but they  failed to turn these into goals.  Westville had the first clear chance,  somewhat against the run of play, when  Mbuso Mgobozi  suddenly  worked himself into an open position in front of the Jeppe goal  mouth but his reverse stick shot  hit the side netting.   Both teams created a couple more chances but poor finishing took them into the half goalless.

Westville started more purposefully in the second, putting pressure on the Jeppe back four.   Jeppe soon settled down and found their rhythm but were let down by a yellow card in the 9th minute.  The hosts used this to their advantage winning a penalty corner, which was flicked high into the net by Captain, Ryan Bradfield. Westville continued pressing their opponents, forcing another error with Chad Carney receiving a ball on top of the ‘D’ and finishing with ease to make it 2-0.

Jeppe were back in the game with 7 minutes to go when Westville received two quick fire yellow cards leaving them with 9 players on the field. The hosts kept their composure and defended well for the last few minutes of the game to finish off 2-0 winners against the visitors from Johannesburg.

Westville will look to take this form into another tough week, with two important fixtures against St. Charles and a big game against rivals Kearsney College on Saturday.
