The Westville 1st XI took on Northwood on Bowdens in their last T20 Cricket Second Stage Group D clash of the year. The winner would go through to the Coastal semi final of the tournament. Westville were firm  favourites having won this tournament 3 years in a row.

Northwood won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a flat track and fast outfield. The Northwood batters failed to capitalise on the conditions early on and only managed to get to 35/1 after 8 overs before Blade Capell 35(39) and Junaid Syed(32935) got going, helping Northwood to 104/9 after their allotted 20 overs. Waseem Rahman was the pick of the Westville bowlers taking 4/14 in 2 overs.

Westville went in to bat and got off to a lucky start when opener Tyron Koen was dropped on nought in the first over. Koen made Northwood pay for the mistake scoring a blistering 48 of 24 balls eventually playing one on to his wickets attempting to cut one through point. Waseem Rahman 17(17) and Andrew Moon 24(14) then settled the innings before both losing their wickets. Rahman caught at short midwicket trying to force one through for a single and Moon stumped of the bowling of Northwood’s promising left arm spinner Preston Abrahams. Luke Bowman 8(10) and Kiashen Govender 6(6) finished the game off for Westville taking to home team to a 6 wicket victory with 8 overs to spare.

Westville are through to the KZN Coastal Semi Final where they will meet Glenwood, DHS or Kearsney for a shot to go back to the final at Kingsmead for the 4th year in a row.
