Westville 1st XI went into the KZN Coastal Final of the Coke T20 Competition full of confidence, having overcome Glenwood by 8 wickets in the semifinals.

DHS batted first and were soon in trouble, as the Westville bowlers were superb upfront.  They lost wickets regularly and were unable to ever really get going with a good partnership. The pick of the bowlers was Cameron Gordon, who picked up three wickets for 9 runs. Westville finally bowled DHS out in the last over for 73 runs.

Westville had a small total to chase down and lost an early wicket in Bruce Kerr. The batters did not panic and stuck to the task at hand. Captain Luke Schlemmer, who celebrated his 18th birthday, scored 17 not out and Nicholas Pentz scored 34 not out, taking Westville to victory by 8 wickets with 7.2 overs to spare. Pentz,  who also bowled very well with the new ball,  took the batting award while Gordon won the bowling award as well as the man of the match.

Westville will now take on the winners from KZN Inland on the 7 February at Kingsmead to decide which school will represent the Dolphins at the National Finals in February.

DHS: 73 all out
